When you go on your next adventure, the last thing you want to worry about is getting a good night’s sleep. The best feeling after a long day of driving and exploring is crawling into a comfy bed — and RV mattresses make it possible no matter what campground or scenic overlook you’re at for the night.
RV mattresses are designed to specifically fit into the small corners of your RV. While some regular mattresses do fit, it’s important to consider the height and length of the bed space you’re working with, along with the weight limit of your RV, also known as the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR). A heavy regular mattress could be the difference of 50 lbs that you could reserve for something else. And for height and length, the difference of just a couple of inches can make a big impact on your RV quality of life — consider the difference between an RV Queen (60” x 80”) versus an RV Short Queen (60” x 74” or 60” x 75”). That’s the difference between a cabinet drawer that opens all the one and one you have to cram your hand in to get a spoon, not that we’ve ever been there.
Why consider an organic RV mattress?
If you love road-tripping, enjoying the outdoors, and being in the fresh air, you might also want to keep it fresh indoors with an organic, nontoxic mattress. That means looking for mattresses free from chemicals, flame retardants, and other materials like heavy metals and volatile organic compounds (aka VOCs), which can vaporize, enter the air, and pollute our indoor spaces with harmful gasses.
Organic mattresses, which are becoming more widespread and now even come in RV sizes, are important because they are made with natural and safe materials, and are tested for all the harmful materials and chemicals you want to avoid. You can rest easy knowing these five mattress brands are not only good for you and your health, but the companies are looking out for the planet and their communities too.
